Um:

If you want to see a neighborhood that needs a second line desperately, try my old stomping grounds, the upper east side. That neighborhood has the densest population of any area likely not only in New York, but the entire country. I used to have to either walk or take a shuttle bus the building I used to live in had over to the 77th Street station on Lexington Avenue to take an overcrowded 6 train (even at night) on my errands (and this was in the 1980s when the subways were in much worse shape than today).

When the SAS is finally built, even the stubway to 96th will be a massive improvement, but even that is still going to only relieve the crowds on the Lexington Avenue lines ever so much.

THAT's why I have little sympathy about your losing the V at 2nd Avenue because of it being merged with the M in something that is long overdue and needed.
