I remember Madison Hardware (lots of Lionel), Carmen Webster's MREC and Polk's. All great stores.

Model Railroad Equipment Corporation carried a full line of just about everything Silver Leaf made, wrote or imported. She demanded a higher level of discount from vendors, but could she move the merchandise!!

MREC, in addition ro having a big O scale/gauge section in the back was Brass Heaven!! I guess that's not such a big deal now. A big O Scale steam artic at around $600 (1965 dollars) was to die for.
