It's okay, he can call me if he wants to. I'm always paying attention to local radio transmissions, while Control may be busy with something in another section of town. In fact, if I could change the rules, I would instruct train crews to get the attention of the tower, as well as the Control Center, AND relay their message to the tower immediately, rather than wait for a response. The faster I know what the problem is, the faster *I* can make a decision as to what to do with the service behind him.Sometimes radio communication can be spotty if Control isn't keyed up to that exact location, but towers are usually keyed up. If Control isn't answering a train calling for help, I'll call the train from the tower, ask them what the problem is, and then relay that info to Control myself, either by radio or by phone. |
