If it's a fantasy map, why not go all the way and have the second avenue subway run via lower Manhattan, Governor's Island, and Red Hook and form an east-west cross-Brooklyn line? And have an express via the Brooklyn Bridge that continues through southeast Brooklyn to the Rockaways via a brand-new rail-only bridge across the bay?
