Yes:Ideally, if the new SF is going to be closed because of the 1 being forced to New Lots, then what I would be doing NOW is building a new stairwell to access the short platform at Bowling Green (and whatever elevators are necessary there for ADA requirements, which probably would be a good idea anyway), setting it up so the short platform at BG can be operations for weekday (I would guess 6:00 AM-9:00 PM) shuttle runs between BG and the old SF station, which obviously would be re-activated for this service to pick up the slack of the loss of 1 train service at SF (with 1 passengers at BG obviously then being able to take the 4/5 to Fulton to get the 1 or 2 train there). The service would be similar to what I previously suggested: Weekdays (6:00 AM-9:00 PM): Shuttle between Bowling Green and South Ferry (outer loop of old station), using a 2-3 car consist of R62As. Evenings (9:00 PM-1:00 AM) and weekends: 5 to South Ferry (old station). Overnights: 6 extended to South Ferry (old station), extended service could start in the evening if there is enough room to have the 4/5/6 all operate between BB express track and Bowling Green after the PM rush hour. 6 could also be extended to South Ferry at all times on weekends if there is enough room to do so with the 4/5. |
