I agree with you regarding nurses and doctors, but I would think that members of the NYPD and FDNY would be able to ride NYCT for free as long as they're in uniform. That's what SEPTA does (from the SEPTA City Transit Division fare tariff):a. The following persons will be carried on regularly scheduled route service operated by City Transit Division at no charge: 1) Police Officers, Sheriffs and Sheriff's Deputies, of the City of Philadelphia. Officers must be in dress uniform to receive free transportation. 2) City of Philadelphia firefighters, when in uniform. 3) SEPTA Board members and Authority Officers presenting valid passes. 4) SEPTA employees and retirees presenting valid picture ID transportation passes. 5) Detectives of the City of Philadelphia when presenting valid identification and gold badge. |
