This test was well documented, and it did achieve 87.75 MPH without any reported problems, and then they cut out some motors to simulate a heavy ridership load and the train still reached 77 MPH. The R-44 holds the record and no model of equipment in NYCT has surpassed it since. In every reference to this test, no mention was ever made as far as I have seen, about anything out of the ordinary. |
