As a native New Yorker, I have rode every NYC line. But in 2005 during my 1st trip to the windy city , I must say that tower 18 is the coolest thing I have ever seen on heavy rail. It must have been great 60 years ago when the Met lines used the loop and ran out via Marshfield Jct. While not even close to the size of Coney Island Yards and shops, Howard street is pretty cool also with the flyovers for the Skokie swift and the loop around the yard and all of those slip switches.But those tight curves on the el are something. The one on the pink line curving onto the Lake St el from the Paulina Connector is a bit scary! |
