I mean how much longer are they going to restrict the type of trains that runs on the 7 due to the Steinway tubes?It's not necessary at this point, by far. The Flushing Line is not operated at capacity, and it's a lot cheaper to run a few more trains or go to 12-car trains, instead of building new river tunnels. Were the line run at capacity, the real problem would be northern terminals; Flushing is 3-track stub-end, and given the need to clear trains neither 111 St nor Willets Pt is ideal. |
