'What sounds interesting is that passengers entraining at Edgeware Rd will have to board a train with the destination sign reading "Edgeware Rd" in order to travel to stations on the clockwise side of the circle. There will be two counter clockwise trains at Edgeware Rd bound for Hammersmith. Those that have already made the counter clockwise trip around the circle and will go directly to Hammersmith and those that are originating at Edgeware Rd and will make the complete counterclockwise circle before traveling to Hammersmith.'The signage question is going to be interesting. At the moment Circle Line trains are simple signed as 'Circle Line' on the front of the trains, and I suspect this will continue, to avoid the kinds of confusion you mention. However, it may be that once a counterclockwise Circle Line train has arrived at Liverpool Street, the destination will be changed to read 'Hammersmith'. Station signage would need to be changed to tell people wanting to reach Circle Line stations beyond Paddington to change at Edgware Road. Platform departure indicators at Edgware Road will - I predict - read 'Hammersmith' for all H&C *and* Circle Line trains continuing to Hammersmith, and 'Circle Line' for the trains starting at Edgware Road and heading towards High St Kensington. |
