'Another question is what will be done with the Hammersmith & City line? This new Spiral line would essentially put another line on the only H&C stations currently not served by other lines.'That is correct - stations Hammersmith (H&C station) to Royal Oak inclusive get a doubled service, as the announcement makes clear. One big advantage of the new scheme is that it eliminates the game of 'guess the station' at Paddington. *All* trains between Paddington and Baker Street, Great Portland Street, Euston Square, Kings Cross St Pancras, Farringdon, Barbican, Moorgate, and Liverpool Street will use the Hammersmith & City line station at Paddington (aka platforms 16 & 17 in Paddington mail line station). If you artrive into Paddington mail line station the only time you'll need to go the Circle Line station at Paddington is if you need to head in the direction of Notting Hill Gate and High Street Kensington. It is to be hoped that Network Rail puts up appropriate new signage, but I'm not holding my breath for that. |
