When I made up the sub-thread, it was a sarcastic way of me saying that doing something like I "suggested" was a dumb as saying to close down the Portal Bridge as was "suggested" in the initial thread becasue no matter what the problems, both spans are sorely needed by the passengers to get to where they're going. At least in the case of the portal bridge, a replacement is on the horizon, for the South Channel bridge, well, after my lifetime.Lately, passengers on the A line have been delayed much more often lately over bridge openings. Yes, the ships have the right of way, but the adventure has been getting it closed and locked after passage. IIRC on Tuesday or Wednesday morning about 6:40 AM, the bridge was opened and there was at least a 20 minute stoppage of A service delaying passengers AND CREWS. Don't mind me, but we know who the passengers blame for this: the front line employees: the t/o's and c/r's. |
