When the IND built through the ramp from Nevins LL, the IRT sued, but the NYC PSC ordered the IRT to vacate the suit and it was dropped. In the case of the IRT attempting to build through the lower level of the iND, since the IND was city owned, the IRT would in all likelihood have been prevented from encroaching on city property which the IND was at the time. Once unification took place many options which couldn't have been considered up until that time, became available hence the current extension of the Flushing Line west through 42/8 LL. |
