The same would have been done at Nostrand Ave.Remember that Nostrand Ave. on the nearby IRT and the el station above the IND were both built as local stations. I think that the IND subway was initially designed the same way, before someone took note of the long gap in express service between Utica Ave and Hoyt/Schermerhorn. Or Nostrand Ave increased in importance between the mid teens and early 30's. |
