"just how accessible is the C/R"No accessible at all. If you are more than 2 cars from the conductor is highly unlikely that you will get his attention before the doors close. Just try to switch cars on an r-68 at a local station on the Q. You need to be ready to go and run as soon as the doors open.(done it many times) A conductor on a train does not return the bang for the buck spent vs intercoms and other methods It is a crime that all new trains did not come with cctv installed from the factory. No need to run to the conductor if the crew is monitoring the train at all times. This is a dumb move by the union. this could be another justification for keeping conductors on trains to monitor the cameras in between stations. |
