Unless an unexpected miracle...er, shortage occurs today, the last train containing an R-40M is running on the V, with 4484/4485 in the middle of 8 R-42's (would it end any other way?). All others were confirmed as out-of-service this morning, and the 4484/4485 is set to be "mothballed" after service today--Friday, August 28, 2009.As stated, 4506/4507 and 4518/4519 remain on the Garbage Train so are technically the last operational cars of this type, though have been out of passenger service since July.
