Also of note is that SFMTA is releasing its scheduling information to any developer for use in iPhone applications, etc. New York's MTA wanta a license fee for its schedules. Facts and collections of data cannot be copyrighted or trademarked - this was settled by the Supreme Court several years ago when phone companies tried to stop others from distributing different versions of the Yellow Pages using the same set of data. The MTA is only pushing that issue because they are the 800 lb bully gorilla in the room - they have no legal standing! |
