I just did a search on TESS, using the address of the MTA headquarters (347 Madison Avenue) as the search term.Seventy-five (75) entries came up, most of them are live. The following route bullets are trademarked under G & S: Mass transit for the general public. 1 2 4 6 7 A D E F G J N The following route bullets are trademarked under G & S: Clothing, namely tee-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, caps, socks, ties, jackets and underwear. 1 4 7 A D F It should be noted that the above trademarked route bullets all have a description that reads something like, "White [Black in the case of N] <character> in a <color> circle," where <color> is the color of the trunk line on which the <character> line runs, according to the current normal service pattern. Also of interest The following phrases are trademarked: IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING Ms. Subways Take the Train to the Game MetroCard Be TrainSmart GRAND CENTRAL MARKET VANDERBILT HALL GRAND CENTRAL RACQUET ACCESS-A-RIDE MTA METRO-NORTH RAILROAD MTA LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD MTA METRO-NORTH RAILROAD (G&S: Model trains) THE NEW YORK SUBWAY A CENTURY OF PROGRESS IN MOTION NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT THE NEW YORK SUBWAY - A CENTURY OF PROGRESS GRAND CENTRAL DINING CONCOURSE The Campbell Apartment GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL The following designs are trademarked. A three dimensional four faced analog clock on a pedestal with an acorn at the top. (describing the clock on the info booth at GCT) the words "GRAND CENTRAL MARKET", the letters "GCT" shown in stylized monogram form, and the design of a fish on a serving platter. The lining in the drawing of the mark is a feature of the mark and does not indicate color. The MTA logo The "THE NEW YORK SUBWAY A CENTURY OF PROGRESS IN MOTION 1904-2004 MTA" logo The "GCT GRAND CENTRAL DINING CONCOURSE" logo The GCT logo GRAND [The GCT Logo] CENTRAL The GTC logo in a box with the words "GRAND CENTRAL" in a box beneath it The design of the MetroCard There were a few subway map designs that were trademarked for various non-transportation goods and services, but all are dead at this time. In either case, I couldn't find any similar route bullets trademarked to MUNI or SFMTA. |
