No reason the same system, more than a decade old at this point, could not be used by a multivoltage locomotive in conjunction with overhead third rail to provide push-pull service into and out of NYP without fear of gapping outSure there is a reason. It's something the MTA would never spend money on. Never mind the fact that they ought to just have taken advantage of the extant loops at GCT. (Although considering the things they do spend money on, it's a wonder they don't rebuild the tunnels for catenary clearance anyhow, assuming it to be necessary.) |
