Fuck 'em. Anyone who bitches about 140 year old ROWs should be shot. Just like all the people along the Far Rockaway branch who bitch about train horns...I told one complainer "that line has been there since the late 1800s; despite your looks, you haven't."

The reason why the folks along the Far Rock and other branches are complaining is that the FRA mandated M-7 horns are way louder than the M-1's. No one was complaining when the M-1's ruled the LIRR. So essentially the LIRR snuck in new equipment with louder horns. Is this the peoples fault for complaining?

Instead, the FRA should design a newer style grade crossing 'gates' that actually prevent pedestrians and motorists from circumventing the lowered crossing gates. The current style crossing gate may be good for farm country in the mid west but is not suited for densely populated suburban areas.
