When Amtrak ran the service, they used a cab car and changed locomotives twice, at New Haven and Frankford or Philly. What I meant was that if it takes ten minutes to change directions with the current setup, they might as well use a cab a car, do a motive power change so they can use the other loco somewhere else and save the energy wasted for pushing/pulling the dead tow.
