By demand, I think he means significant demand. You admit that there is not significant demand. Since there is not significant demand, that means that you can not use it to help the argument you were making. In other words, since the demand is insignificant, it is as if it is zero in the context of the point you were trying to make. I believe he feels that you do not understand that, since when he states that there is no (significant) demand in the context of the discussion, you keep bringing up the (insignificant) demand that really isn't relevant.That's just how I see it.
