"LIRR's cost per mile to operate diesel hauled trainsets is rather high, so don't expect that extra service anytime soon."Shortening the diesel route means fewer trainsets and crews needed and less fuel consumed overall. LIRR would not hesitate. and 30 minute service would be very feasible. |
