and who won the 2001 world series and who won 2003 world series and the....oh wait, you haven't been back since. you got beaten by two teams with a fraction of the Yankee's payroll.

There are two kinds of fans as far as I can tell; "Team fans", that's you and "Baseball fans", people like me. He's an example, visiting batter gets a home run and his team takes the lead, or worse, wins. you rant, you yell, ocasionaly the throwing of half consumbed buds starts. I, I'm ticked off, but I do have a certain respect for that guy. The one major distinction between a "team Fan" and a "Baseball Fan" that i've seen is this; baseball fans are willing to accept thier team has a problem and find out how to fix it, instead of laying blame on someone else. Last two years, with a few exceptions, the Mets bullpen deserved to be the butt of jokes. Most people just started laying blame, I said, to heck with who's at fault, who the heck is gonna fix it.

the frist step to fixing a problem is admiting you have one. you want to win? Well then, you need to get rid of that couger loving creep and find some guys who actually want to play the game and not want salires larger than some nations GDPs!

the next step is to learn to be graious in defeat. if anyone deserve the title of "#1" right now, it's the Phillies. they won, fair and sqaure; as much as I don't like that fact, it happened, it's over, lets move on.

The last part you should know about is this, step back and look at the full picture. you constantly point to the Mets a failures even though comapired to some other teams, they are not all that bad. sure, the Mets haven't won it all since 86, but we've got 7 other teams behind us, from the royals in 85, going all the way back to the Cubs. then there are the other 6 teams who have never won it all. Three of those teams have never even seen the series. the Expos/Nationals only made the playoffs once at all and that was due to the weird ass way the 1981 season ended up being played becuase of the strike. the Mets have been to the series more times than any of the expansion teams and is tied with Florida and Toronto, for the most title by an expansion team.

From 1970 to 1999 the Mets held the City's atendace records. they broke it in 70 with 2.7 million. your boys won four rings in that time span and the Mets were still geting a bigger crowd. you want to explain that.

in direct competetion, it's 41 yankee wins to 30 Mets wins. that not a disproporunate number. it's not 66 to 5 or something like that. in the old mayor's trophy game, it was only 10 to the yanks to 8 for the mets with one tie (Still trying to figure that one out).
