Being that the brakes appeared to release behind the defective car as it rolled out of the station, any delayed release in the car (likely a defective release magnet valve) would have been overcome by the surrounding cars. Also likely the the angle cocks and electric brake were working and properly set since the train was not dragging brakes AFTER the lurching. Since most T/Os do not release to zero before going to power to avoid the constst rolling back, there would be small pressures present and was not the culprit that would have launched that train as violently as the motors would have.
