Well, that belief is supported by the many signed 9 trains seen during off-hours, so it's not entirely unreasonable. I myself thought the 9 ran most of the day, because I would always see them running in the mid-day and evening. Weekends were rare (and when I did see them it was usually on a consist with mix'n'match signage).

But I'd bet that the people who think the 9 does run all day long have no idea what the difference between the 1 and the 9 is - oh something about that skip dealie - they skip something or other. Yeah, one of them skips something, and the other one doesn't. Wait, that doesn't make sense...

All of which testifies to how useful the skip stop actually isn't...
