Yes the Ds, I seem to recall reading somewhere that they, of all cars, did have rollers now that you mention it. Only some eh? It's too bad the surviving railfan set are definetely not the last of the series. Ironic. On the railroads it was even more urgent to progress, how many people suffered death and injury when these journals CAUGHT FIRE, melted, and caused derailments while the train was moving 50, 60 mph. The total money these fools lost was far greater than the amount saved by going with the cheaper technolgy.

Many lives would have been saved, with a little foresight.

As for the arnines I could see them going for rollers on other subsystems, but not on the axle subsystem because of the overiding issue of sharing the total weight of the car with the others. That was one of the very stupid fear factors that the naysayers used to keep them off, almost, the entire pre war fleet, but who knows, you maybe right. It's a shame that they scraped them all in any case.
