Posted by Train Dude on Sat Oct 11 18:43:36 2008 While the LIRR & MNRR used inboard journal bearings on the M-1s and M-3s, they,ve switched to outboard bearings on the M-7s. NYCT has always (at least in my lifetime) used outboard journal bearings. I can think of obvious reasons for using the outboard bearings. What might be a good reason for placing them inboard? |
