Why do you prefer AC motors?The only real advantage is at low speeds, since DC motors can't hold low speeds because it burns up the brushes due to current, or something. Also, the AC motors on the Arrows supposedly messed up their performance. The reason you rebuild instead of buying new is to save money, and to use resources more efficiently... Do you really want to start replacing locomotives every 25-30 years? |
