Yes, that was partly because of the huge August 8 flood that resulted in all kinds of oddball assignments. Things hadn't gotten back to normal the following weekend.Hence the R32 on the rerouted G to Coney, which created a huge sensation during the lunch break on the August 12 Museum trip. A bunch of railfans were cooling off in an R160 between runs at Stillwell when the 32 pulled into the Culver pocket. Next thing you know, thirty or forty guys charged up the Sea Beach stairs, over the bridge and down the Culver stairs. After the trip ended, about a dozen folk set out to Court Square in search of this consist. Ironically, there's another Museum trip to Coney this weekend. It seems doubtful there'll be a 32 on the GO this time. The same GO occurred last fall or winter, and there was nothing but 46s. |
