Depends on the reliability of each item in the system.Can LIRR's switches be operated manually though the major interlockings? If power is lost, probably the signal system is gone, so the whole railroad over the power deprived portion would probably have to operate, if at all, through some quite restrictive absolute block system. SEPTA is all-electric; how do they handle severe snowstorms? |
