Diesel fuel.The theory that others and I have had is that by converting the LIRR to full electrified railway, it can avoid the expense of having to purchase and maintain what would become a smaller and less reliable diesel fleet with the extension of electrification. Yes, there would be work diesels around, but you can always buy those second hand off a freight road... |
