Even for those of us that like the Green Belt, the case for that amendment is very strong. The old RAF base at Fairlop should be taken out of the Green Belt and get houses built on it. Fairlop and its neighbour Barkingside are two of the least patronised stations on the Underground. The New York parallel must be the Rockaways - areas of oceanfront lots unoccupied, with an underused subway line running past them! |
