The government runs the railroads, and the governments turned their backs on the companies. The PA was the first company to buy cars from the outside: the PA3s by hawker, after that it was all downhill. At that time, they could have easily ordered cars from BUDD, or St. lOuis car, or Pullman, as they were still around before the MTA got to them.

MTA practically forced the latter two companies out of buisiness. Now why are you being arrogant?
Not to mention how the government of the US provided 0 aid to those companies. MTA was thinking about going to BUDD for the 62s, but they didn't have a subsidized price like kawasaki or bombardier due to their helpful governments.
