- T/Os and C/Rs going on strike to protest a mere 50% annual raise to their $10,000.00 weekly salaries and draconian two-day work weeks.

- Fond reminiscences of $25.00 fares and $100.00/gallon gasoline.

- 900-foot platforms not long enough to accommodate 15 million daily riders. Plans afoot to create one continuous station with entrances each block and trains stopping every 750 feet.

- Railfans bemoaning the scrapping of R-375 subway cars. R-160 and lower cars considered safety hazards and not allowed to run with passengers on nostalgia trips.

- MTA broadening its jurisdiction over an area of land ranging from Washington DC to Manchester, New Hampshire to Cleveland.
