The subway can get crowded with Metrolink riders at 5:00 pm. Given that the Regional Connector will provide better access to the jobs on Bunker Hill some of the trains will need to go to Union Station. Even if only half of them do that's still probably 12 TPH at rush hour and half that the rest of the day. But if you look at freeway patterns the predominant commute direction is east to west away from downtown in the morning and to downtown in the evening. Most of the jobs are on the west side. I think that the large majority of East LA commuters will want access to downtown and West LA. Pasadena and Union Station not so much. |
