Only the F & R have the little mixture of R32 & R46, while the E is near 100% R32.Anybody who says the new cars (R142/142A/143/160) do not experience mechanical/technical problems is living in serious denial - one of the reason some of those units couldn't run for a while was all the glitches they kept experiencing. I don't know what the reason is, maybe its the vendor or the maintenance with the high-tech equipment that keeps them running with flaws. I remember being on an R160 on the N and at 57 Street the announcement all of a sudden said "due to a mechanical failure this train is out of service." This while the damn car was running! I forget the number of the car/consist - I was on the CI motor car. While I love the older SMEE and 1970's cars, I admit some of them look and sound done (especially some of the R32s, both Phase I and II.) But the new equipment hasn't exactly performed to expectations. |
