I rode on a (W) train and on an (R) train last year. There were delays getting into the pocket, and that delayed the (R)s.During the time that (W) trains would need to use City Hall LL you really would not be laying up trains anyway. The point is *if* only (W) trains served Astoria, then you would need many more of them, more than could possibly be turned at Whitehall. Thus some are turned at City Hall and others at 9th Avenue. Why would we take the (N) train out of Astoria? Well to send it (and the (Q)) up to 125th Street, of course. LION seems to think that the line should have more service than said (Q) could provide. Also Broadway Express trains should run to Second Avenue while Broadway Local trains should run via the 60th Street Tunnel. ROARING |
