The R142 A/C units are designed to come out at the terminal. Bombardier and
Vostermans/Multifan designed a unit that can be swapped out in an hour without a trip to the shop. I
assume the Kawasaki cars have an equivalent setup.

You may have misunderstood the source you quoted. The A/C units
are modular and are designed to be swapped out quickly in a
_barn_, i.e. it is not a main-shop move. But really, how could
you expect something which is mounted in the roof to be swapped
at a "terminal"?
