Even if there are no inclines right under the island, the way the tunnel was built on both sides of the island may prevent that, as the island itself may not be wide enough at that point to hold ten-car platforms.Two thirds of the height of the tubes were above the original riverbed and covered up with construction materials, raising the riverbed. Not so different from what was done with the BART tubes across the SF bay in the seventies. |
