It's a pet peeve of mine when folks treat Manhattan as if it were the "city" which means that they kind of devalue the place where they live. If Manhattan is the "city" when what do they call the place where they actually live? Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island are not suburbs by any definition.If anyone asks where I live I proudly say ASTORIA. I rarely say "New York City" and NEVER say "Queens". I am an Astorian and PROUD of it!!! And yes - life here is very different from Manhattan - I have a back yard and a private garage and there is no bus service after 1 am... |
