If this happens to you in Toronto, PLEASE just tell the station collector or any other TTC employee and they'll have a supervisor descend to track level SAFELY and get your device.By safely I mean train crews will be advised on the radio and told to use caution at that station, and the supervisor will be wearing a safety vest and using the proper hand signals with his flashlight to warn oncoming trains. As opposed to the average passenger who knows nothing about track level safety procedures. Question... does NYC have a third rail power cut button on the platform accessible to passengers in case they witness someone fall on the tracks or something? There's one on each end of every station platform in Toronto, and transit control will by no means be angry with you for using it if you see an unauthorized person at track level, be it by accident or intentional (although they'll have some choice words for you if you shut the power off to go get your cellphone). There's never any need for a non-TTC employee to be at track level. Ever. |
