However, we would've needed electric motors that resembled the F59PHI so that the Pacific Surfliners wouldn't look like they were mismatched.

I dunno why, it's not like the F59PHIs fit well with the Metrolink Bombardier cars:



Amtrak California uses plenty of Pepsi cans to haul the CalCars around. A short AEM7, HHP-8, ALP44, ALP46 or whatever would look great compared to this:
