there's no place to put luggage on metrolink trains

No overhead racks? Single-level commuter cars in the Northeast (both MUs and push-pull) have them. Even the older MUs and commuter cars from the 30s had them (but then again, they also had baggage combine cars on some trains . . . imagine putting baggage in the combine at EWR station nowadays . . .)

That station at Orange looks like there might be room for a third track. Of course, freight track-center requirements for those cars of Plate B clearance and wider (Plate B is 10' 8" wide) might preclude that . . .
