The standard as the APWA has set down is:White: Proposed ExcavationThis can be found on page 7 of this PDF. It's by no means a hard and fast regulation. It's not uncommon to see survey markers in white, orange, or green, but red, yellow, and blue should be pretty sacrosanct because of the potential hazard in striking a gas, power, or water line. The yellow flags around a fiber optic installation don't neccesarily mark out the fiber optic line, but rather are placed in advance so the crew laying the wire doesn't dig right into a natural gas line. |
