Now, there was a way to save the fare...but it would have required the MTA to have brains and make MAJOR cuts in the Department of Buses (and MTA Bus).In short, all express buses would end up parked, and the worst 5 percent of local bus lines would be cut or merged...a move that could cut a significant chunk out of the budget. (Retiring operators would NOT be replaced.) |
