BART was built by sinking the tunnel to the bay floor. If an earthquake happens, the tunnel may shift, but it should not be damaged.I thought about the same sort of tunnel vis a vis SF-StG but others here nixed the idea saying that parts of the bay are too shallow to allow for both tunnel and loaded ship movements. The LION does not *know* about that, but thus is what he was told. ROAR |
