I was at the Mets game last week on Monday 9/24 and one of the on-this-date facts for that date was that the Dodgers played their last home game in Brooklyn on 9/24/57. I was surprised that they made no mention of the fact that the Mets cliched the Eastern Division on that same date in 1969. I remember that well; I watched that game on TV and the clubhouse scene afterwards. Tom Seaver was really whooping it up.I figure if the Mets couldn't beat those damn Phillies (or for that matter the Nationals or the Marlins), hopefully the Rockies can. They took Game 1 yesterday. |
