The single best party I ever attended was on a CTA charter. It was in March-ish of 1997 (maybe 1998), the Saturday before Palm Sunday. The ride began at Linden Station as the group which 'bought' the party was all from St. Francis Xavier Church in Wilmette.

There was food and wine, music, special guests along the way, and a proper number of comfort stops. The ride only went down to the Loop, which it circled a few times, and then ended up at the end of the Brown Line. When we pulled away from the terminal after a rest stop and smoke break, the lights were turned off in the 2 car train (In a picture somewhere I have the car number, which was, I believe in the low 3000s.) and the DJ played the song from Risky Business, "LOve on a Real Train". (and this was at a church party!!!)

The CTA did a terrific job outfitting the car, with tables, countertops, etc. for the food and beverages. The next morning the crowd at 8am Mass was REALLY hurting...The trip went for $5500 at a live auction, so for 30 couples the price of $180 per was a real bargain. Catering was by Carlyn Berghoff, daughter of the family owning the famous eponymous restaurant oint he Loop.
