It's hard politically to fight for funding that electrifies already electrified lines. The LIRR made it's decision to go with 3rd rail, and it really can't afford to change now. Maybe catenary could be brought to the Hudson line, in a joint effort with Amtrak to electrify the whole thing. Think about it, Acela....to Buffalo! |
